Tonight I find myself in labor pain all over again. My heart is pounding out of my chest, I’m trembling like a leaf and I’m beyond moved. Our book UNBROKEN is here, God’s timing is perfect. I have been waiting about 13 years to fulfill this part of my destiny and share this gift that was planted in my heart without knowing how it was going to unfold and I can’t come up with a deep, fancy post.
My team and I have been working around the clock to have it ready and I don’t want another birthday to go by without me presenting this book that I have been wanting to present for years to my muse and co-author Natalia Harris on her birthday today. I wrote this book for anyone in need of hope, and to my daughter as a reminder of her inner strength, battles won and to leave her a legacy of where I come from as well as how my grandparents instilled their faith and devotion into my DNA.
We were ready to launch it back in January, around the same time she got sick and not only did my priorities changed, but at times I felt defeated. I didn’t recognize the warrior who had written it, “me” and of course, I buried it again. A couple of months ago I dusted it off, began to read it and realized I had written this book for myself, I was the person in need of hope. Upon reading it, it permeated every part of my being and it infused me with hope, faith, courage, strength and new life. Unbroken is a labor of love who has been brought to life by many unwavering doulas dear to my heart.
My most sincere gratitude to our cover designer Morenike Olusanya, photographer Jacqueline Ayala, untiring readers, editors and friends Carmen Inguanzo, José Albino, Yesi Morillo and last but not least the earth angel responsible for turning my manuscript into the book you will soon be holding Oyindamola Shoola and Alexandra Z. Charney for her finishing touches. My heart is overflowing with love, gratitude and respect for these amazing beings.
If you go to my brand new website: www.eglicolonstephens.com which I’m also unveiling today thanks to Oyindamola I would like to gift you the first few chapters of Unbroken in celebration of my Natalia’s life. Feel free to tag and share.
Cheers to Unbroken!
Remember that the human spirit is unbreakable when grounded in faith.
